Bridge cranes are the most common of the four types due to their widespread use in indoor settings such as factories and warehouses, resulting in the largest number of cranes in operation and the widest range of applications.

In industrial production, bridge cranes (also known as overhead cranes) undertake a large number of material handling tasks, especially operating efficiently on fixed tracks within workshops, making them indispensable equipment in manufacturing and warehousing logistics.

In comparison:

Gantry cranes (also known as portal cranes) are mainly used in open areas such as outdoor freight yards, ports, and hydroelectric power stations. Although widely used, their application scenarios are relatively limited.

Tower cranes (also known as tower cranes) are iconic equipment on construction sites, specifically used for vertical transportation in high-rise building construction, with a high industry concentration.

Mobile cranes (such as truck cranes and crawler cranes) are characterized by their mobility and flexibility, suitable for temporary operations or complex terrain, but their daily usage frequency is lower than that of stationary equipment.

In terms of popularity, bridge cranes are widely deployed in various industrial and mining enterprises due to their mature structure, low maintenance costs, and ability to operate at high frequency around the clock, making them the most numerous and frequently used type of lifting machinery.
