The decline in crane sales at the beginning of 2025 reflects the challenges confronting the industry, with notable sales drops across major product categories including truck cranes, crawler cranes, and tower cranes.
Truck Cranes: A total of 1,267 truck cranes were sold, representing a year-on-year decrease of 21.5%. Domestic sales reached 529 units, down 38% year-on-year, while exports stood at 738 units.
Crawler Cranes: Sales of all types of crawler cranes totaled 174 units, a year-on-year drop of 12.6%. Domestic sales were merely 39 units, plummeting 40.9% year-on-year, with exports at 135 units.
Tower Cranes: 301 tower cranes of various models were sold, down 57.8% year-on-year. Domestic sales amounted to 189 units, a sharp 68.3% year-on-year decline, and exports reached 112 units.
These data indicate that crane exports performed relatively well in early 2025, suggesting sustained international demand for Chinese-made cranes. Expanding into global markets to cultivate new growth drivers has become the primary strategy for the crane industry to overcome current difficulties.
